Have you ever wanted to spend the night on a stunning island in Tropical North Queensland? Then beautiful Fitzroy Island, 45kms off the North Queensland coast from Cairns, is the answer for you.
Two-bedroom Suite
To start with, the two-bedroom suites consists of an adjoining Island suite and a resort studio room with a shared common entrance. The Island suite also has a kitchenette, dining area and balcony.
The two-bedroom suites feature a microwave, toaster, full-size fridge, plus tea and coffee facilities in the kitchenette. The air-conditioned suites have ceiling fans in both rooms, two plasma TV’s, a shared lounge and dining area, and an en suite black marble tiled bathroom with shower.
These rooms are not interconnected but, instead, adjoined with a common breezeway.
The two-bedroom suite sleeps four to six guests.
Resort studio rooms
Firstly, the Fitzroy Island Resort studio rooms sleep a maximum of two people and have air conditioning, ceiling fans, plasma TVs, and an en suite marble bathroom with a shower.
Additionally, the studio room also includes a minibar fridge, tea and coffee facilities.
It’s important to note, though, the resort Studio Rooms have limited views of the rainforest. The rooms are 32 square metres and include one queen bed or two single beds.
Fitzroy Island Accommodation Penthouse
If you want the most luxurious stay on Fitzroy, then the penthouse is for you.
The penthouse has spacious living, dining, and kitchen areas and access to a large outdoor balcony with magnificent views over stunning Welcome Bay.
The penthouse has a master bedroom with a king-size bed, an integrated marble bathroom and a two-person spa bath with balcony access.
The second bedroom has a king bed or twin bed configuration, while the third and fourth bedrooms have queen bed setups.
The penthouse suite naturally comes with a full kitchen, dishwasher, and laundry located on the 3rd-floor with lift access.
The penthouse sleeps, eight guests.
Fitzroy Island suite
The island suites have a nice sized balcony, kitchen facilities, and spacious bedrooms to keep all guests happy. Each suite is air-conditioned and includes a queen bed, TV, and dining area.
The island suite sleeps up to four guests.

The island suites can accommodate four guests.
Welcome Bay suites
Situated on the top floor with ocean views and a large balcony, these suites are beautifully spacious and have a separate bedroom.
The welcome bay suites have full kitchen amenities such as crockery and cooking utensils, a large fridge freezer, hotplates, oven, microwave and a dishwasher.
They also have a guest laundry, iron and ironing board, toaster, tea and coffee facilities.
The air-conditioned suites have ceiling fans in both rooms, a Queen size bed, plasma TV, lounge and dining area, and an en-suite black marble tiled bathroom and shower.
The welcome bay suites sleep up to four people.
Beach cabin rooms
One of the best accommodation options on the island, the beach cabin rooms are always a hit with weekenders looking for a romantic getaway or families with young children.
Seeking an early morning swim? It would be best if you only walked directly from your balcony straight to the beach to take in the views across picturesque Welcome Bay.
Key amenities include a queen-sized bed and another bedroom with twin beds and use of the shared guest laundry.

Butterfly bungalows
If you’re chasing a more private accommodation, the self-contained butterfly bungalow option could be the right fit for you.
The Butterfly bungalows are placed amongst the rainforest and are just metres from the beach. The Butterfly bungalows are the perfect secluded island hideaway option for couples, families or groups of friends.
These 3-star bungalows have been appropriately named after the butterflies that call Fitzroy Island home. They include the Lacewing, Ulysses and Bird Wing, to name a few.
The five Bungalows offer bedding for a maximum of four guests, with up to two guests in bunk beds. One Bungalow features a queen bed only and has a maximum capacity of two guests.
Bungalow room features include a small internal food preparation area with a minibar fridge, microwave, kettle and toaster, a covered outdoor deck area with tables and chairs, a large esky and a Webber BBQ. Plates, cutlery and basic cooking items are available, plus BBQ utensils.
Scheduled van transfers are also available from the jetty to take you and your luggage to the rooms on arrival and departure – these must be pre-booked with the reception team on arrival.
Fitzroy Island camping
If you’re more of an outdoors person and seeking an option where you can camp under the stars and listen to the waves crash into the island’s sands at night, then camping could be just for you.
Fitzroy Island has 20 tent sites, but campers must be self-sufficient and provide all their own equipment during their stay.
The camping area is only a five-minute walk from the Island’s jetty.
