The Cairns Yacht Club and Fitzroy Island Resort join forces for the Fitzroy Island 3000 Regatta. The line-up includes five races from Cairns to Fitzroy and four at the island. Multi-hulls, yachts, non-spinnaker, and dinghy divisions compete for thousands of dollars in prize money.
December
Christmas Day on Fitzroy Island
The celebrations keep going for Christmas. If you are having an Aussie summer Christmas, what better way to do it than comfortably marooned on a tropical island on the Great Barrier Reef? The island resort hosts a Christmas buffet feast with festive decorations and a visit from Santa Claus.
New Year’s Eve on Fitzroy Island
Are you spotting the trend? Fitzroy Island loves to celebrate any occasion! See out the old year and welcome in the New Year with New Year’s Eve on Fitzroy Island. Dance the night away with live music, food and drinks at the restaurant, the beachfront bar or on the beach at the palm-fringed shores of Welcome Bay.
Boats leave Cairns at 18:00 or 20:00 and return to Cairns at 12:20 or 02:20, where you can continue the celebrations in Cairns bars and clubs. You will receive a complimentary party ticket if you stay overnight at the resort.
